BAL X-Chock Tire Locking Chock - A Great RV Stabilizer, Too!

Any rver knows that those cute, colorful tire chocks we all have in our possession do provide safety and peace of mind. Yes, we rest easily knowing that these mighty little pieces of plastic will keep us in one place when our dog has to scratch an itch inside the motorhome.

But how about tire chocks that serve as rv stabilizers?? The X-Chock Wheel Stabilizer - Pair - One Handle - 28012 is the ultimate support for your double axle trailer. The reviews are outstanding! It actually reduces moving about and all of the noise that goes along with it. Creates amazing stability with front to back movements.

So how do these work? You simply place them between your two tandem tires so that opposing forces do the work. It even comes with a wrench for easy on, easy off engagement. Though they may look like some type of alien from an antiquated video game, they make up for their odd looks because they are lightweight, easily stored and have a rust resistant coating. Cute? Well...I'll leave that judgment call up to you.

So here are the important things to know before you make a purchase.
  • First, it is best to have some of the cheaper, plastic chocks on hand, because when you disengage the x-chock tire chock, you won't have any security at all!
  • Second, they fit a gap from 1 3/8 inches to 10 inches, so will fit most campers, but be sure to measure first.
  • Third, some reviews have mentioned on small, lightweight campers that one does a fine job, if purchasing two is a financial hardship.
  • Fourth, if you decide to purchase, DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE CHOCK or you will damage your tires...soft resistance is sufficient.
Some final thoughts? Glad you asked!! There is a deluxe model available that is a little different in design, costs a bit more but can be locked to prevent chock theft (lock is sold separately). The downside is it doesn't retract as much (2.5 inches), so you would definitely need to be sure it will fit between your tires.
Now go get camping...what are you waiting for?! Happy Trails....
